Principal Consultant of Carmel Info-Risk, one of BC’s oldest vCISO practices, Edward is a veteran of 25 years of information risk, cybersecurity, IT governance, IT assurance, IT compliance and privacy, and an additional 10+ years in retail systems, financial systems, IT project management, and a pioneer of the e-commerce SaaS model in Canada back in 1997.
As Security Director at two publicly listed companies for 8 years, Intrawest and lululemon athletica, beginning in 2005, Edward founded the cybersecurity function at each and led the latter to its first Level II PCI compliance certification.
As a cybersecurity consultant and trusted advisor for 12 years since, Edward has applied his information risk and cybersecurity program management expertise to both traditional bricks-and-mortar and all-cloud SaaS and fintech enterprises, and spanned the retail, mining, technology, education, health, government, and financial services industry sectors.
Edward is a Past President of ISACA Vancouver and still an active volunteer for over 15 years. He is also a co-founder of the Government of BC’s Provincial Security Advisory Council (BC-PSAC), has served as industry advisor to Vancouver International Privacy & Security Summit and is recipient of CPABC’s 2021 Distinguished Service Award.
